(AKA What the Hell is goin' on??)

First there was Kung Fool (2001), a webcomic about the behind the scenes sitcom set at a Kung Fu TV show.  That went on for a while but then the story became ill suited for the gag-a-day strip format (AKA, I dropped the ball.)

Hilarity ensued out of control until the wacky chick crashed the car into a pole in Montana after kidnapping Wil Wheaton. Crazykimchi (2003) started after Kung Fool was put on hiatus awaiting a proper ending.

Crazykimchi is a showcase for for different gags, parodies, satire, sketches, personal reminisces, or anything else I could think of at the last minute.

It is currently running the following serials:
"Crazykimchi Mystery Theatre Presents: Murder at the Chateau, (2003)" a parody of Tea-cozy detective stories with a bit of Lovecraftian sillyness plopped in.

Kill Harry (2004), an unholy combination of "Harry Potter" novels and the movie "Kill BIll."

Kung Fool Too! (2005), is the fifth iteration of the "Kung Fool" thingamabob.  I should put it under it's own category, but, at least for the present, it shares the vertical strip format of Crazykimchi.

Glendale High Manga Club (2003) continues the character-driven sitcom style comic strip, recycling some of the characters from Kung Fool.  Long absences from the website and herky jerky updates of 2004 kinda ruined what otherwise was a very promising beginning.  It's currently being retooled for relaunch as a communal group effort after the shorter serials are completed.

There's also How To Draw Shitty Manga (2005), the semi-educational comic strip... about that new burgeoning hobby... we'll see how that goes...

The newest (soon to be let down) project is Glendale High Manga Club, ver.2 (2006), combining and

What motivated the CKTP: MATC epic? Was it always intended to be as it was, or did the story modify as you were creating each part? Is it over? - Andy

Old BBC shows, no, and no.  After the first couple of parts, I asked myself," Half-ass or full-ass?"  Full ass it was.

[W]hat inspired you to make crazy kimchi?

I was jabbing nails in to my head one day then it came to me, in a flash, all at once.

What is it about these four characters that makes you want to use them over and over again in all these entirely different storylines? - Riovanes

I'm too lazy to create new designs, there's recognition value in using them over again, and they are sufficiently archetypical (stereotypical) enough to fit any ol' role.

Will there be any continuation or conclusion of the [K]ung Fool story? - Jarys

Sure. The story's pretty opened ended, not like there's some directional plot.

[W]hat is the status of the strips lost in the move? Does it look like they'll be restored? How much effort will it take? - Minivet

I found the discs, but the PHP archive system's a bit wonky now.  Figure I would redo the whole thing in HTML again with additional comments or something.  But I'm not in a particular hurry, maybe a CD -ROM or something.

[W]here did you come up with the idea for kung fool?

I was wiping my ass one day, then it came to me, in a flash, all at once.

Sí. ¿Por qué no?

Site
[I] always remember seeing things that your site linked to weeks or months after the fact, and need the link again or want to show it to friends or someting. its very impossible to get through the archives to find stuff... you need a search thing. - Rpb

They're external links, a good deal of them are 404 by now.  So as with life, they are but etherial wisps, radom pattern of light and shadow.  Only thing I can say is "control + D."

[H]ave you ever considered making a book/graphic novel collection-thingy of either comic, or of random sketches (such as your recent work)? Hell, I'd buy it, so long as there were enough panty shots...  - Chakka

Maybe. But unlikey, none of them are print worthy, and there isn't enough audience to cover the cost.

How much on average do you make in donations in a month? - Cristian

... maybe $20?  Use to be higher when KF was on.
Don't expect much from free comics alone.  I'd have to really hustle and something extra to offer.  Exposure is more important really.

[A]lways with the gay humor...but never any pics of the girls getting it on...come on man...make with the hot lesbo action!

      Money talks, bullshit walks.

Personal

C'mon. Do you really eat kimchi that much? - El Wally

Yes.

[H]ow closely do you follow other online mangastyle comics? - dave

Not very. Not at all.  I scan a few here and there looking for links or when someone sends the URLs, but I don't really have time or care to anymore.  I'm busy working on my own stuff for now.

Can Kim draw a rock so big he can't ink it?  -Lord Morgue

Sure, why not.
Go knock yourself out.

Why did you drop the "Sun" from your name and what does "Hyung-Sun" mean anyway? - N-Kryt

The "Sun" part is sometimes dropped for convenience.  My "first" name is Hyung-sun, two syllables, but mimicking the Korean (Chinese) writing convention of having a space between each phenome, the name is romanized as Kim, Hyung Sun. So the "Sun" is sometimes thought of as a middle name and often dropped.

As for the meaning, most Korean names are chosen beforehand through divination rituals based on family traditions. Members of the same generation will usually have the same homonym as part their personal names.  My brother is Hyung Jun, my cousin is Hyung Jin.  My sister is Mi Kyoung, my cousin is Bo Kyoung.  But the Hanja (the Sino-Korean characters also known by the Japanese pronunciation, "Kanji") of each syllable will be different.

They usually use obscure characters not in normal circulation for the names, but they usually choose words meaning "success," "wealth," "achievement," and such for boys and "beauty," "elegance," etc for girls. I forget which exactly mine means, but it's something to that effect. (I'll have to look 'em up again.)
