Do you draw a webcomic?

Feeling down, feeling depressed?

You, my friend, have the Webcomics Blues.

How to use the Yawara stick  An old guide to use the short baton (or Kobaton) as demonstrated by the comic.

Mount Everest. 360 degree panorama from the top of Mt Everest - QTVR panoramic movie from panoramas.dk (via MF)

Moller International has developed the first and only feasible, personally affordable, personal vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicle the world has ever seen.  One of those skycar thingies.  Hilary of Blades And Spells sent it to me.

Welcome To Exit Mundi: A Collection Of End-of-world Scenarios  We're all going to die.

David McNamara (a.k.a. Anti-Porn Guy)  He would never approve of this comic either.
(Update: Danny the Douchebag e-mailed me that it's a hoax, a spoof.  Aw well, we can dream, can't we?)

Ramen Recipe Database  You're poor, I'm poor.

Worst Books I Ever Read (but forced to 'cause some snobby asshole like me browbeat you to read it.)

The Illustrated Guide To Breaking Your Computer  "When you work in a job where you are constantly using computers for long enough, you develop a certain anxious feeling which can pretty much only be cured by beating the hell out of an old computer or two."

Wednsday 27, 2003..

The Unh! Project  A collection of guttural moans from comics   Argh!

The Pit Heads "The faces and objects pictured below are carved from the seeds of fruit such as peach, plum, apricot, olive, sweet cherry, wild cherry and even the seed from the dogwood tree."

Really Unlikely Children's Books.  Really.

PageRank is Dead  "You see, PageRank was a brilliant yet simple idea at the time: use the structure of the web itself to determine what is and is not popular. But that's behind us. Google is no longer concerned solely with what's popular. Like most companies, they also care a lot about what sells or what advertisers want ."

The Onion - Terrifying Bill Passed During NBA Playoffs  Would be funnier if it wasn't so true…

ConsumerReports on Desktop Computers  Apple comes out on top, but for the price, they better! (via MF)

Sex museum opens in Seoul  "South Korea's first sex museum has opened, challenging traditional views that in the past Koreans were a chaste, even prudish nation" (via Clark)

Bamboo Eco Coffins  The Natural Choice

"Ain't I cute?" SARS mask contest  (via Asobi)

"We pride ourselves on using the finest pork and pork liver for our faggots, topped with a generous serving of delicious West Country sauce. It's no wonder 100 million faggots are eaten in the UK every year!
Mr Brain’s family grocery business was founded in 1898 by Herbert Hill Brain. In 1925 the young Mr Brain introduced the now legendary ‘Mr Brain’s Pork Faggots’.
Today Mr Brain’s Faggots are still a firm family favourite, and a traditional part of the British way of eating."

BigLips.org  Justin writes, "if you could check out a flash film I made called "The Greatest Comic Book in the World!". The story is about a boy and his 500 ton bear told over 6 episodes(total time is 20 minutes).  I made them in flash MX and swift 3D v2 over 8 months. I am looking for any feedback before I go forward on trying to make a full feature in flash."  Lottsa beels and whistles, some 3D work, check it out.  He also has PDF files of flyers you could print out and post around your neighborhood and what not to… get the word out.

Strange Weather Lately, adapted from a Clemens Lecture presented by Kurt Vonnegut in April for the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut.

Disney Tatto Guy  Body. Covered. In. Disney. Tattos. I guess we'll have to wait a bit for the anime version of this guy. (via Asobi)

"This year marks the centennial of the beginning of significant Korean immigration to the United States, an event that is being celebrated this month by an intriguing show of contemporary Korean art at Gallery International"(in Baltimore (via Mike)).

The Paradoxes of American Nationalism  "An amalgam of political idealism, national pride, and relative insularity, American nationalism evokes mixed feelings abroad. Many admire its idealism, universalism, and optimism and recognize the indispensability of American power and leadership to peace and prosperity around the world. Others reject American nationalism as merely the expression of an overbearing, self-righteous, and misguided bully."

"documentography is a collective of photographers dealing with documentary photography and photojournalism. The group develops personal as well as common projects tackling social, political and cultural issues."

The Lord of the Rings Harley Davidson  "Coming Soon"

MailOrderHusbands.net  Ladies! A man is just an email away.

Historian of Things That Never Were "Peering into the real past is fine, and in fact I enjoy doing so quite often, but it takes a certain amount of panache to hold an interest in fictional history. Gleaning knowledge from a past that never existed--or a future, for that matter--is simply so much more sublime."

Hey, the new DivaLea Show's up.  A mom and a gay dude talk comics.

Underground Fire Still Burns After 120 Years  "An underground coal fire that was started almost 120 years ago in New Straitsville is slowly working its way under Wayne National Forest."

Azumanga Kennoh  "We've finished [translation of] our second Azumanga cross-over/parody doujinshi. It's not ecchi, it's just insane. This one is a crossover with Fist of the Northstar. Chiyo has been kidnapped and it's up to her dad and Tadakichi (Raoh and Kenshiro) to rescue her."

Bush's Messiah Complex  "Bush is very much into the apocalyptic and messianic thinking of militant Christian evangelicals," he says. "He seems to buy into the worldview that there is a giant struggle between good and evil culminating in a final confrontation. People with that kind of a worldview often take risks that are inappropriate and scary because they see it as carrying out God's will."

You don't think Bush is sexy?  Maybe these pictures will change your mind.

The Federico "Furio" Castelluccio Collection  The stangest Sopranos mechandise I've seen.  At least it's "artistic."

Sean sent me this link, Avril Lavigne's Sk8er Boi Headed to the Big Screen, withe this warning, "..pray for the souls of the executives that make this."  I don't know, after listening to it about a hundred times, it grows on you.  Here a clip of my favorite part, near the end, when she backs up her main vocals with the the "yeah, yeah, yeah" (Zipped MP3, 440KB).   That is so cute.

"Of all Britain's weird and wonderful customs and traditions, the annual cheese rolling races at Cooper's Hill in Gloucestershire must be among the strangest - and certainly the most spectacular."

U.S. Insiders Say Iraq Intel Deliberately Skewed  "A growing number of U.S. national security professionals are accusing the Bush administration of slanting the facts and hijacking the $30 billion intelligence apparatus to justify its rush to war in Iraq"

"The Pikasso" Commissioned by Pat Metheny

frodoharryskywalker_furymix.jpg

Bringing Civilization to Its Knees.

The Credit Card Prank  "So my question was, how crazy would I have to make my signature before someone would actually notice?"

The Uberman's Sleep Schedule  "The Uberman's sleep schedule revolves around forcing yourself to rely on six twenty to thirty minute naps spread throughout the day for your daily dose of sleep. "

Webcartoonists are communists. "That's right... they're all commies. Or maybe socialists, but that's as close as should make no difference to someone who is merely 'left-wing,' let alone decently 'conservative.'"

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible  "I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation" .-- Ex.20:5

Where was the center of the Big Bang?

Speaking of which, The Geek Test.

Unlike father, unlike son*   Ah, no day is complete with out a Bush link, ey?  See how the the Younger stacks up to the Elder.

"This experiment is all about whether you can spot the difference between a genuine and fake smile.
Taking part is simple.  You will be asked a few questions about yourself and then will be shown ten pairs of photographs of people's faces."  I got 9 out of 10.  The trick is to notice the eyes.  Real smiles force involuntary crinkle of the eye, fake smiles do not.  Check next time you tell a lame joke.

Aquarium Theater (Flash)

Beneath L. A. An anthology of little known Facts and Stories about Los Angeles, California.

Japanese Lesbian Monkeys  Probably 'cause all the males monkeys are going after the underage girl monkeys in sailor suits. (via Some guy who likes to send me links about sex, but doesn't want his name mentioned.  Be proud, man.  Who wouldn't me interested in a little simian lez action?)

You don't know Dick! Click on the Dick for their identity

The Most Famous Pinups of WW II  Rita, Betty, and Jane.

History of the Paper Clip "When were bent-wire paper clips introduced? The first bent-wire paper clip was patented by Samuel B. Fay in 1867. It was originally intended primarily for attaching tickets to fabric, although the patent recognized that it could be used to attach paper items together."  Take notes, kids.  There a quiz tomorrow.
