I've always considered
the whole high fantasy thing to be escapist and reactionary at
its core. Even back in high school, I wondered what my usually
sci-fi oriented visionary geek pals were doing scribbling away
at AD&D games and its shallow anemic take at nordic
myths
and fairy
folklore.
