Korea to Unleash Plague on World
"Second only to the plagues that Moses unleashed on Egypt, and even more deadly that the plague that a Korean unleashed on the world in "Outbreak," the Korean government is preparing to unleash a storm on the world...Soap Operas."
Hmm... they're pretty corny, but not that bad.... of course I can't stand to watch them.

Korean mercs heading for Iraq You can tell they're Korean by the Gold plated muzzles, God we're a tacky people.

The Oscars nominees were announced, I can just hear all the geeks gritting their teethes for LotR... heh, heh.  Haven't seen the second or third one yet, but I did enjoy the first one despite the genre. I'm pretty sure the rest of the series will be good, I guess.

I've always considered the whole high fantasy thing to be escapist and reactionary at its core.  Even back in high school, I wondered what my usually sci-fi oriented visionary geek pals were doing scribbling away at AD&D games and its shallow anemic take at nordic myths and fairy folklore.  Spaceships and robots I can dig, but wizards and dragons?  Christ, why don't you just go around pretending to be fucking vampires?

So here's four links sure to irritate the faithful and amuse the cynical:
Wraiths and race "What with the dark skin, broad faces and dreadlocks, it's a wonder Tolkien didn't give his baddies a natural sense of rhythm, says John Yatt, examining Middle Earth's suspect racial undertones"

Lord of the Rings: Philosophical Poison

The Return of the King: Tolkien and the new medievalism
"The obsession with power, will and hierarchy in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic The Lord of the Rings fuels its dangerous topicality: a vindication and veneration of empire."

The Curse of the Asian Man "Have you ever noticed that an Asian Guy is never the stud on campus? Have you noticed that a lot of Asian Guys just don't seem to be the most popular with the ladies?"

My bro's opinion, "If you 'er not getting any, it ain't because you're slant eyed, it 'cause you ugly! Don't blame us for your mediocre ass, good looking people always get laid. Ugly girls are at least easy lays, guys, you have to offer something.  You have to give the girl some reason to be with you..."

He then went a very funny rant about how annoying the white bitches were with the yeppity blah blah never stopping mouths, "but at least they had a pulse, not like those comatose asian chicks, with those fuzzy bunnies and shit on their pencils, cell phones and anything else...."
Then he went on about those concave chested idiot math and engineering majors always smoking in front of the lobby talking about they "l33t" they were and those Chinese guys, the mainlanders, they fucking stunk! "Third world hygiene," he said. He when on, to other topics and other races, but ultimately rejected my extended quoting of his material as it would hinder his future political career, my very relation to him being a large enough one already.
