Well, what can you say? This is a comic strip parody of "Harry
Potter," the series of mega popular children's fantasy
novels by J.K.
Rowling, crossed with "Kill
Bill,"
the last grand opus from Quentin Tarantino, who's apparently as
much of an Otaku as well as a Wigger.
I don't think
particularly well of either works, if you can believe that.
Rowling's writing get worse every book, from a genuinely enjoyable
story for all ages to a prodding generic Sword & Sorcery epic
resembling more the "Star Wars" franchise then anything
by an actual genius of the genre like Roald
Dahl.
As for the movies, less said the better.
What I can recommend
are the audio books read by Jim
Dale, he brings a vitality to the books, and breaths Harry
and company to life more beautifully then any bloated movie special
effects could.
"Kill Bill"
gets points for flair& retro-kitch style, and the second "volume"
greatly makes up for the first half, but a huge let down compare
to his last and best film, "Jackie Brown."

Sure
the frat boys will always love "Pulp
Fiction," but "Jackie
Brown" showed that Tarantino could make an actual movie,
not just string together some comedic bits over an 80's John
Woo flic.
"Kill Bill" was a 70's Chambara
flic minus the comedic bits with Uma Thurman hamming it up like
Mr. Pink explaining "Like a Virgin." Gordon
Liu
was cool, though.
So why
spend months mish-mashing the two? Because it's the kind
of idea couple of Jr. High school kids have, laugh about, and
say to each other how "cool" it would be, half knowing
something like that never could happen, that no one would put
so much into something so ridiculous. It's a ricockulous idea,
all the more so to purse it to its conclusion.
But don't worry, pretentious
git thouugh I am, despite all my efforts, my comics remain aggressively
silly, free from intellectual taint, or worse, serious intent.
So have fun, giggle a bit, and enjoy the comic. |
